An evening for adult and children at the
Michelin Restaurant Els Casals
Together with Chef Oriol Rovira, CATALONIA HOLIDAY LETTINGS kindly invites you to a cosy evening with a visit to the garden and the animals at the owners' farm.
Later the group will drive to the restaurant (less than 1. km. from the house), and have a drink at the terrace and a gourmet dinner with point of departure in the famous Catalan cuisine.
In 2004 Time magazine included the Catalan restaurant el Bulli chef Ferran Adrià in its list of the top 100 influential people in the world, in all fields. The same year French Le Monde devoted its cover to Ferran Adriá and at the same time mentioned Catalonia as the "New France" when it comes to the very best gastronomy. Catalonia is also known for having more Michelin stars per capita than any other place in the world (asmany as 42). Catalan cuisine has the finest regional cooking of Spain and therefore you will have to experience the fine traditional kitchen as you visit the region.
Close to Sagás, 8 km. from Gironella and 20 Km. from Berga, you will find the restaurant Els Casals where Michelin Chef Oriol Rovira has control over the kitchen. In 2004 he was selected as the best young chef in Catalonia and in 2006 he and his team went to Paris to make the official dinner reception for The Barcelona football team when they won the Champions League Final. In the winter of 2008 he received his first Michelin star and in 2009 the chef Oriol Rovira won the precious prize as the best chef in Catalonia.
The Michelin Chef Oriol Rovira has a philosophy that everything that are being used in his kitchen will have to be made "by him self" so all vegetables and all the meat that are being served will be from his own large garden and farm (Just as the true, traditional Catalan kitchen aims). As Oriol Rovira said when talking to him regarding his philosophy: "If I buy my vegetables in the market of Barcelona, they will, no matter how fresh they are, also be at least three days old. Growing them myself I know when each vegetable is as good as it can be, and then create my dishes after that rather than the opposite way around".
We at "Catalonia holiday lettings" get a lot of request regarding dining in Catalonia. Hence we decided in the summer of 2007 to organise an evening in the Michelin Restaurant Els Casals, where the guest could discover the delicious Catalan kitchen. The arrangement was a huge success, which is why we continued in 2008 with a even larger success, hence we are happy to be able to offer you the evening in the summer of 2009.

Welcome to Els Casals
The Michelin Restaurant Els Casals and Chef Oriol Rovira invites to an exclusive family evening for guest from "catalonia Holiday lettings". The evening will begin with a visit to the farm belonging to the family of Oriol Rovira. Here the children will have the chance of driving a tractor, seing the animals and you will have a chance of visiting a brilliant house of home made spanish saugages. Bring a few cash as you might have the chance of buying some. Oriol will lead you back to the Michelin Restaurant Els Casals where he will serve appetisers and Cava in the garden, where also the children can play on the lawn or the hotel's large playground.
Oriol Rovira will then make a 6 course traditional Catalan dinner. The evening will take place every Wedensday in July and August and part of September.
How to find Els CasalsTake either road C-154 from Gironella to Vic and turn right when you see a sign to Els Casals. From Puig Reig you take road BV-4406. This road will bring you right to Els Casals.
