Directly on the coast you will find the metropolitan city of Barcelona. It is the second largest city on Spain. A modern, cosmopolitan city, but has inherited many centuries of history. You will always find something to do in Barcelona. It is full of surprises for adults as well as for the children and will keep you entertained with countless cultural and recreational activities throughout the year. The city is the only big European city with a large sandy beach, basically in the center of town. Combined with the winding streets of the old town (Barri Gotic), and the pounding big-city life of large shopping streets and virtually a café on every corner - Barcelona is probably the most exciting citiy in Spain, perhaps in all of Europe.

For the Children
This city is also full of surprises for you younger visitors. Barcelona has a magic mountain: Tibidabo. You can take your parents to the Tibidabo Amusement Parkwhere you can ride the merry-go-round, and see a puppet show. Se other water and Theme parks in Barcelona and Catalonia
At the zoo is one of the best in Europe, guaranteed to excite kids of all ages. It even holds dolphin show! But one of the places where you can see the most fish is L'Aquàrium. You can walk through a tunnel under the water and see sharks and fish of all shapes and sizes. Don´t miss it!

Restaurants / Bars
If this is one of your first visits to Barcelona, you will never go wring with a stroll around the old quarter (Barri Gotic). Theres is a perfect little cafe virtually on every corner. The city hosts a number of renowned music festivals devoted to jazz, flamenco, classical and contemporary music. The city also has two classical music venues with a high-quality programme of events: the Palau de la Música and L'Auditori. In addition, the opera house, the Gran Teatre del Liceu, hosts one of Europe's most prestigious opera seasons.

The city has over 50 museums (and 300 in Catalonia), showcasing permanent collections of works by artists such as Picasso, Joan Miró and Antoni Tàpies. At the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya (MNAC) you can see one of the world's most important collections of Romanesque art. It also has famous collections of contemporary art housed in museums such as the Museu d'Art Contemporani de Barcelona (MACBA) and CaixaForum. Most museums stage temporary exhibitions.

Antoni Gaudi (1852-1926)
Architect and designer: Antoni Gaudi was at the forefront of the Art Nouveau movement in Spain. While working in Barcelona he created some of the city's most notable and extraordinary landmarks. This kind of architectural genius is rare, and his work is guaranteed move you. He was a pioneer in his field using color, texture, and movement in ways never before imagined. All of is works, the ones he finished himself, as well as the uncompleted (La Sagrada Familia) stands as testimony to his genius. We recommend in particular the Parque Güell on the hill of el Carmel 10 on the outskirts of the city. The astonishing architecture can be seen and experienced, it is almost like a Gaudi theme park for the entire, as well as one of the most remarkable architectural achievements in recent European history.

The night-life in Barcelona is infamous -and not without reason. There is hardly any place in Europe with a nightlife anything like this. Whether you want to dance all night to the latest music with the teenagers and 20-somethings, or enjoy a quiet drink in pitoresque settings. Go to a concert. Etc. Etc. Barcelona is your city.
