In the middle of nowhere lies a unique holiday castle

It's hard to imagine a more unique holiday home; here, you will stay in a magnificent castle on a mountain - only surrounded by other mountains, forests and stunning, untouched nature. From the great house, you will have a 360-degree view of valleys and unique landscapes; you can even catch a glimpse of the Costa Brava coast. You will not find a house that is more suitable for a get-away from the hustle and bustle. Here, you can just sit back in a lounger with a cold drink and enjoy the warmth and the fresh mountain air. And yet, the owner of the house has attributed the house with the slogan “In the middle of nowhere, connected to everywhere”, which is as true as I said - there’s just half an hour from your privately lying castle to Costa Brava and about 12 minutes to the nearest village with supermarket, restaurant, etc.

The holiday home’s facilities are numerous - the highlight is of course the 15-meter pool that overlooks the horizon and the beautiful scenery. The pool has varying depths and a Jacuzzi function at one end. With the pool comes several sun loungers and other seating arrangements, where you can sit with a cold drink and enjoy the view and the lovely Catalan sun with the unique opportunity to just take a dip in the refreshing water at any given time. On the same side of the house as the pool, lies the beautiful garden with several levels and all sorts of beautiful flowers and plants - but in reality, the entire area is your garden; you can freely move in the countryside that surrounds the castle. Besides this, there is a large courtyard with room for almost everything in might want - you can, for instance, move the mobile grill in there and have a barbecue party.

What we refer to as castle was originally a place of religious relevance. The building consists of a monastery and a church that dates back to 1690 and was actively used by monks until 1822. Parts of both the monastery and the church was rebuilt in the 1800s. The well-preserved building contains an incredible amount of history, which also is noticeable when you walk around the grounds. The holiday home is now decorated with modern furniture and tools - along with the old exterior, the holiday home achieves a perfect combination of the old & historic and the new & modern. The great part about this is that you get an exciting cultural experience without losing access to new smart devices such as WiFi-Internet. The rooms in La Monastir de Santes has been specially designed by a young designer.

The house is divided into "apartments", which means that the rooms are distributed into separate units around the castle, where there are several rooms in many of the units. There is a total of seven of these "apartments" with 10 rooms and space for 26 people in total. With the 10 rooms comes 6 bathrooms of which 3 are en-suite. Furthermore, 2 of the rooms have direct access to the pool area. There are multiple well-equipped kitchens as well as a living room with flat-screen TV and several seating arrangements. There is also, in connection with the kitchens, several dining tables, so you can enjoy meals together.

Nearby activities includes bike rentals, hiking trails, horse riding, golf and more. Many of the activities are related to nature and contribute to a special experience in the beautiful countryside that surrounds the house.

The castle is also optimal for events such as weddings or alike. This is partly due to the fact, that a part of the building was made into a beautiful hall with room for about 200 people recently.

Description of the region :

Costa Brava Catalonia

If you wish to absorb the lively local life in one of the smaller villages in the Girona region, go swimming on the stunning beaches of the Costa Brava. Go hiking in the Pyrenees or see some of the most interesting museums in Catalonia. If you want everything in a week and within your reach, we highly recommend the Girona region  - one of the most beautiful regions in all of northern Catalonia.

The city of Gerona, near the French border. It is a beautiful city where you get a real feeling for its history just by walking through its ancient streets. Its a walled city which dates back to the Roman period, the old quarter is located within the city walls. The city of Girona has a rich, detailed, and dramatic history. The first inhabitants of the area were the Iberians. Then came the Romans who built a fortification there, which was named Gerunda. After having been occupied by a number of cultures, Girona finally fell under control by the Holy Roman Empire. In the 12 th century, the Jewish community flourished in Girona , and a major Kabbalistic school was built. However, the Catholic kings drove the Jews away from Spain in 1492. Later on, in the 17 th to 18 th century, Girona fell under siege by the French, and it was conquered by Napoleon in 1809. The walls of the city were destroyed in the 19 th century. Today, the city is a rich heritage site full of historic and cultural beauty.

The most striking characteristic about of the province is undoubtedly its great diversity. From a tourist point of view it can offer a magnificent coastal area -the internationally recognised Costa Brava- as well as a fine mountain region, which is ideal for both tourism and the practice of a wide variety of sports. This balance between coastal and inland scenery, along with a mild climate, helps attract tourists to the province throughout the year.

The coastline

The coastline north of Barcelona, the Costa Brava, is one of the busiest coastlines in northern Spain. White sand beaches, lifeguards on duty, and one restaurant after another makes it a perfect spot for an easy day on the beach. To the north the town of Roses, provides rental of windsurfers, diving equipment etc.  However should you prefer something a little quieter, we highly recommend the small village of Cadaques a to the north. This beautiful village build on the rocks around a small bay, is virtually untouched by modern day mass-tourism. And although the are no sandy beaches the water is clearer and perfect for a small snorkelling-trip. Cadaques is also the birth town of Salvador Dali, and was a reuge for painters and jazz-musicians. The small and central square is a beautiful little place for a lunch. The town also has some small very good and cosy seafood restaurants.

Theater Museum Dali

Figueres - Dalí

The hometown of one of the worlds most influential surreal artists Salvador Dali- Figueres, is also home of the official Dali museum. This spectacular is a must-see for all visitors in the area.  Designed by Dali himself, the museum is a piece of art in itself, on the outside as well as the inside.
