Living local is a great chance to make a real difference using "Responsible Tourism" which are supporting the local Catalan farmers as it aids maintaining traditional ways of living. Renovating the beautiful country homes, with a high degree of respect, stops the areas of mass tourism to grow larger and preserve the stunning scenery, wildlife and glory in Catalonia's historic buildings and precious heritage.

If your dream of a vacation with a castle atmosphere and a touch of history, in peaceful surroundings with many walking tracks, a splendid view over the landscape and many different possibilities for activity and excursions , not the least to Barcelona, Castell Trisor would be a very good choice.
The house is situated above the surrounding landscape in central Catalonia, not far from the town Cardona, and about 1 hour drive from Barcelona. In ancient times, the situation was selected to secure an overview of possible hostile entrants. As seen on many bigger Catalan properties, the house has a chapel on the property, dedicated to the San Francisco de Asís.
The house is constructed with typical materials such as limestone walls and tiles inside, keeping the house cool even on the warmest summer days. Distributed on two floors, there are in total 6 bedrooms. Three of the bedrooms are three-bed rooms and three are double rooms. There are three bathrooms for your disposition .
There is a very large dining room ensuite with a sitting room with chimney, TV and DVD. The house has a modern kitchen with all commodities such as dishwasher, micro wave and washing machine.
The outdoor facilities are also excellent. There is a small terrace on first floor. Additionally, there is access from the extensive, tiled court yard to a beautiful room with table tennis, a covered terrace with outside-kitchen and not the least the very nice pool-area with sun beds, which is fenced for the safety of small children.
Nearby, there are many walking tracks, and horse riding is possible at a farm in the nearby village. The situation centrally in Catalonia makes it possible to reach more or less every corner of Catalonia from Girona, Figueres with the Dalí museum and Costa Brava in the north , Barcelona and the wine district of Penedés below, and Tarragona in the south.

Description of the region :
El Solsonés is a region of the Pre-Pyrenees. The landscape is a contrasting mixture of forest, fields, villages and areas with wild nature, typically steep cliffs and mountains. The area is divided into 15 smaller areas, of which only six are real villages. The area consists mainly of scattered farms, of which some are excellent examples of Catalan rural architecture mostly from the 18 century, but some even back to 15 century. For the same reason El Solsonés has been called: The country of thousand farms. The area has ample opportunity for large nature, sports and cultural experiences. It is a landscape that has evolved over centuries with a very particular balance between nature and urban use. The town of Solsona has a population of 8000 on a total area of 18 km2 and as the rest of the region can easily keep its primary trademarks. Here you can enjoy an elevated tranquility in the middle of a very rich historical and cultural environment.
The Carnival in Solsona.
The Carnival, which is held in February each year, and continues through a two week period, is one of the greatest events in Solsona and a carnival famous throughout Spain. Not least because of the dancing giants! On this link: http: / / youtube.com / watch? V = z37SmHRxgVA you can see the giant owl from 2008 dancing. The giants are part of a long cultural history which has been maintained in Solsona, and really flares up during the yearly carnival.
The cathedral in Solsona.
The cathedral is, and not without reason, the most famous edifice in Sosona. It has become an emblem of the city. What today is called "the cathedral" is a complex mix of different buildings of which some are built in the period from 11. - 18.century. The current cathedral is a Gothic cathedral, which was built between 1299 and 1630. To the left of the picture below, you see the old village church, an intimate little church which, among others contain a unique altarpiece in the Baroque style. To the right in the picture is the Chapel of Claustre, the current cathedral, which was built in honour of the city's guardian angel.
