Masia la Traxa is your opportunity to stay in an authentic holiday home dating back to 16th century, formerly used as base when cultivating the almond plantation, but in 2013 it was completely reformed into an authentic, high quality holiday home with natural swimming pool and a fantastic view over the Tarragona province and even with the Sea visible in the distance.

The property is very spacious and is still full of almond trees, although not cultivated professionally anymore, so in the almond season, you can eat all the almonds you want.

The swimming pool is fantastic, as it is constructed in a way that it receives water directly from a spring in the mountains. The water is led through the swimming pool and by a small fountain to a lower level, where it is collected for watering. Hence, the swimming pool has the cleanest mountain water, and an organic cleaning system add to the natural experience. It is made by natural rocks and is excellent for children as it is between 75-95 cm. deep.

By the swimming pool, there is a terrace area, so you can relax there, and if it gets too hot, just move the table under the almonds to find shade. The situation of the pool, makes the view impressive, with fields, almonds and wine and with the Mediteranean Sea visible on clear days.

The pool-area and the swimmingpool is, however, located a small way from the house, in the other end of the garden - this is done to allow the swimmingpool to receive water from the spring and to make the view from the pool even more outstanding.

On the other side of the parking lot, the house is situated with an equally nice view. In front of the house, there is a big outdoor terrace, connected to the house by big sliding doors. The ground floor of the house is open and has a dining area with a beautiful wooden table and a sofa area with flat-screen TV and DVD. There is also WIFI-internet in the house.

A lot of effort has been made in preserving the authentic atmosphere of the house, they have for instance preserved the original walls of the house and also the original oil-deposit below, which is visible, since a part of the floor has been made of glass.

On the ground floor too, you find the cosy open modern kitchen equipped with all facilities you may think of, for instance ceramic hotplates, oven, fridge, freezer and Nespresso. Finally on the ground floor, you find an extra toilet and also the smallest double room of the house with a small double bed and bathroom ensuite.

On the first floor, you find the remaining 3 double rooms, two with double beds and one with two single beds. All bedrooms have bathrooms ensuite. If you are more than 8 persons, there are two extra beds for children. The limestone walls keep the temperature pleasant in the summer.

The area is has also wine production and when staying in the Masia la Traxa, it is possible to visit the neighbouring ”bodega”, which is the spanish word for wine producer. Here, it is possible to have a tour and a tasting.

The nearest village is 4 km. away, and is very cosy with its narrow streets and arches. It has a few restaurants, a bakery and a pharmacy. For bigger supermarkets, you will need to go to Valls, 10 km. away.

The house is a perfect base for excursions, as you can reach Barcelona in 1 hour by motorway or, in 30 minutes, Tarragona , which is a very interesting city with its roman amphiteatre and a cosy town centre. Here is also an excellent beach. Just outside Tarragona, you find the amusement park Universal Studios Port Aventura.

Hemos pasado un excelente fin de semana.
La casa es preciosa, y con buenas vistas, su equipamiento es completo y con detalles que hacen muy agradable la estancia.

Une superbe propriété au milieu des amandiers et des chênes verts. Une maison très agréable, très propre et bien équipée. La piscine n'est pas profonde,certes, mais elle rafraîchit bien ! Un accueil charmant et plein de jolies attentions de Juan et Gemma. Nous y reviendrons sûrement !
A améliorer peut-être ... le système de clim dans les chambres où il faisait très chaud malgré les murs épais (les moustiquaires ne laissent pas passer l'air frais la nuit)

A superb property in the middle of almond trees and holm oaks. A very nice house, very clean and well equipped. The swimming pool is not deep, of course, but it refreshes well! A charming welcome and lots of lovely touches from Juan and Gemma. We will surely come back!
To be improved perhaps ... the air conditioning system in the rooms where it was very hot despite the thick walls (the mosquito nets do not let in the fresh air at night)

Belle maison , avec beaucoup de cachet , bien restaurée , au calme, en pleine garrigue .Elle conserve bien la fraîcheur , énorme avantage en été.
Nous y avons passé une bonne semaine en famille.
Un petit bémol serait un manque d'ustensiles de cuisine , type gros faitout ou grande poële, car le logement est prévu pour 8 personnes!

Beautiful house, with lots of character, well restored, quiet, in the heart of the garrigue. It retains its freshness, an enormous advantage in summer.
We spent a good week with family there.
A small flat would be a lack of kitchen utensils, type large casserole or large stove, because the accommodation is provided for 8 people!

The house is very clean and very well equipe and nice furnished. The terras is ok, bit die not have a view over the valley. It is a pity that you can’t swimm in the pool, because it is only 90 cm deep.
Around the house there are a lot of flies and in the evening mosquitos. We could not sit outside ore use the pool during the day, because of hunderds of flies. In the evening you should use repellaint for the flies and mosquitos.

OUR COMMENTS: We and the owner acknowledge, that there from time to time are some issues with flies. The owners make a complete treatment on the entire property before each arrival, and when the family of Ageeth contacted us during their stay, the cleaning came to make a second treatment, just to say, that we have done what we could, when we were made aware of the problem. The challange is that the flies are not always there (as it is also visible from other reviews), and the owners make a big effort to solve the problem on a permanent basis as well as they offer repellant in the house. Flies are of course something one can meet in any rural property, the curious thing is that this property is not near agriculture. Their theory is that sometimes the almond-trees might attract them. With regards to the swimming pool, it is correct, as also mentioned in the ad, that the swimming pool is not very deep. It is ideal for families, who travel with small children or people, who use the pool to cool down, for proper swimming it is not suitable. By the way, it is connected to springs from the mountains, so it runs with spring-water.

Amazing villa and location
We took 7 teenagers/ young adults with us and the holiday was a huge success. The villa is very secluded so we didn’t need to worry about too much noise and the pool hosted volleyball and water aerobics everyday!! The kitchen & living areas were very clean with plenty of equipment. The villa really is very luxurious and charming and the surrounding area very authentically Catalan. Judit our translator/ host couldn’t have been more helpful booking restaurants for us and advising on the best beaches etc Overal a joy of a villa and I’m sure we’ll return- thank you again
