Unique holiday paradise with full privacy in the middle of a village

Torre Gelabert 1611 (refering to date of the contruction) offers the perhaps most demanded regarding holiday homes: pool, luxurious design and all in all in a high standard despite of being situated in the middle of a village. You will often connect this with a decrease in privacy - not in Torre Gelabert 1611, however. The owners have come up with the brilliant solution by raising the pool area a level over the street level. This means that you get pool and outside area, complete privacy and still a very short way to various town-facilities such as restaurant, café, bar and so on. This opens up for a great amount of freedom, including the possibility to go out and get a drink and then walk home afterwards. There is, for instance, a pub close with air hockey, billiard and more, from which you can walk home at night.

The outdoor area of the villa of course offers a fantastic fenced off private pool with stairs, so all of the members of the vacation group can make use of it. Furthermore, you will find various dining areas and sitting arrangements, such as a sofa area, so it’s very possible to utilize and unfold the relaxing holiday spirit. There’s also BBQ for the evenings where you decide to eat at home and not at one of the restaurants in the village. This is a nice option that comes with the villa, as the kitchen is well-equipped with modern equipment such as microwave, washing machine and so on. For sporting activities, there’s table tennis and even a very physically demanding (but just as beautiful) hike up a close mountain, where there is a tower on the top, in which you can walk to the top. The reward is that you get to experience an astonishing view of almost all of Catalonia. Furthermore, it is a tradition in the city to dam up the river that runs along the city, so you can bathe in the fresh, natural water. The houses of the village gets filled up during summer, as people move into them from Barcelona and other places in the summertime. This provides a lot of life and activity in the city, in the bars etc.

The 7 suite-rooms in Torre Gelabert 1611 are of very high class. All of the rooms have many square meters for moving around, as well as an en-suite bathroom with shower and bathtub. Some even have a sofa area. All of the rooms also have TV, DVD-player, writing table, fans, telephone and minibar, so that every one of the rooms almost feels like a mini-apartment. The high calibre of the rooms is especially advantageous for the larger vacation groups, as it provides the possibility of withdrawing from the group if you should wish for a bit of privacy. A couple of the rooms also have a balcony.

The traditional elegant style in which the villa was built is well-preserved and maintained to perfection. The holiday home has, of course, been renovated and refurbished with modern equipment, but it’s clear, that the original style has been respected. The antique pieces of furniture, mirrors etc. in combination with modern facilities give the best experience possible. It is furthermore evident that Torre Gelabert 1611 aims to be more than just a “standard holiday home” - the villa has various decorations such as authentic paintings, chandeliers, etc. that contribute to an almost majestic feeling for the guest.

The owners live in the uppermost part of the house, but everything (including all of the facilities of course) is private. You do, however, have the option of asking the owners of everything, you need. They can, for instance, offer breakfast, dinner, do shopping for you as well as a welcoming meal when you arrive.

Costa Brava Catalonia

If you wish to absorb the lively local life in one of the smaller villages in the Girona region, go swimming on the stunning beaches of the Costa Brava. Go hiking in the Pyrenees or see some of the most interesting museums in Catalonia. If you want everything in a week and within your reach, we highly recommend the Girona region  - one of the most beautiful regions in all of northern Catalonia.

Girona

The city of Gerona, near the French border. It is a beautiful city where you get a real feeling for its history just by walking through its ancient streets. Its a walled city which dates back to the Roman period, the old quarter is located within the city walls. The city of Girona has a rich, detailed, and dramatic history. The first inhabitants of the area were the Iberians. Then came the Romans who built a fortification there, which was named Gerunda. After having been occupied by a number of cultures, Girona finally fell under control by the Holy Roman Empire. In the 12 th century, the Jewish community flourished in Girona , and a major Kabbalistic school was built. However, the Catholic kings drove the Jews away from Spain in 1492. Later on, in the 17 th to 18 th century, Girona fell under siege by the French, and it was conquered by Napoleon in 1809. The walls of the city were destroyed in the 19 th century. Today, the city is a rich heritage site full of historic and cultural beauty.

The most striking characteristic about of the province is undoubtedly its great diversity. From a tourist point of view it can offer a magnificent coastal area -the internationally recognised Costa Brava- as well as a fine mountain region, which is ideal for both tourism and the practice of a wide variety of sports. This balance between coastal and inland scenery, along with a mild climate, helps attract tourists to the province throughout the year.

The coastline

The coastline north of Barcelona, the Costa Brava, is one of the busiest coastlines in northern Spain. White sand beaches, lifeguards on duty, and one restaurant after another makes it a perfect spot for an easy day on the beach. To the north the town of Roses, provides rental of windsurfers, diving equipment etc.  However should you prefer something a little quieter, we highly recommend the small village of Cadaques a to the north. This beautiful village build on the rocks around a small bay, is virtually untouched by modern day mass-tourism. And although the are no sandy beaches the water is clearer and perfect for a small snorkelling-trip. Cadaques is also the birth town of Salvador Dali, and was a reuge for painters and jazz-musicians. The small and central square is a beautiful little place for a lunch. The town also has some small very good and cosy seafood restaurants.

Theater Museum Dali

Figueres - Dalí

The hometown of one of the worlds most influential surreal artists Salvador Dali- Figueres, is also home of the official Dali museum. This spectacular is a must-see for all visitors in the area.  Designed by Dali himself, the museum is a piece of art in itself, on the outside as well as the inside. For extensive info and ticket reservations follow this link http://www.salvador-dali.org/museus/figueres/en_index.html to the official web-side of the museum in English.
