Cal de Mestrán is the perfect option for a big family or two groups of friends, if you want to combine a stay in a privately situated typical Catalan limestone house with swimming pool, with proximity to Barcelona.

It is amazing to find this beautiful spot on a top of a hill, in the much populated surroundings of Barcelona and the area is also protected by the Catalan government. After passing a quarter of villas on the hill, a short gravel road will take to the house with no nearby neighbours. From the house, there are several walks described in a book in the house, and if you want to explore Barcelona, you can either drive in 30-45 minutes depending on the traffic, or take the train.

The house is situated parallel to the hillside. To the left, you find the covered barbecue area and several beautiful spots with tables and chairs, so you can eat outside, where it suits you the best. Also in this level, you find the cosy area for small children, with playground, playhouse and a lot of toys. The view is excellent. For the bigger children (and childish adults), there is an activity hall with billiards and table football, and also some petanque balls for outside use.

One level up, you find the swimming pool of 8 x 4 meters, which is protected by a gate and has roman steps to enter. It is ideally situated, so you can enjoy the scenic view, or just relax in the sun loungers. Around the pool area, the typical Catalan vegetation is represented by olive and fig trees, wine and some strawberries can also be found when it is the season.

When you enter the house, you are welcomed by the freshness, which is so typical for Catalan limestone houses, which are constructed to keep the sun out and keep the indoor temperature pleasant. The house has several levels, which add to the charm. The first part is a sitting area with sofas, TV and a fireplace. Two steps up; there is a dining area with dining table and a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, stove, microwave, fridge, freezer etc., There is also a washing machine. On this floor too, there is a library and there is also a bathroom with shower.

On the 1st floor are the bedrooms. First there is a sitting area with sofas, TV and DVD, from which you get to the four bedrooms. There is 1 double room with a double bed, 1 triple room (can be arranged either with 3 single beds or 1 double bed and 1 single bed) as well as 1 double room and 1 single room. These two rooms can be connected with a sliding door.

There is a further bathroom in addition to that downstairs. For any For smaller children, two cots and a high chair are available

The local village in the valley is only 3 km. away, and here you find shops and restaurants, and you can find even more in La Garriga, 6 km. from the house. From La Garriga, there are frequent trains to Barcelona, so if you prefer to avoid driving, you can park the car there and take the train. La Garriga itself is also a charming town, as it was holiday town for the rich Barcelona people 100 years ago, and has a lot of beautiful modernist houses.

-smukt 500 år gammelt landhus beliggende ca 600 m over havets overflade med en fantastiks udsigt og fine omgivelser til gåture. Vi fik en varm modtagelse af et meget sympatisk værtspar. Velegnet til børn og unge med interesse for dyr - hest og høns - og mulighed for forskellige spil . Det eneste men var varmen om natten. Der er ingen aircondition, og med de stigende varmegrader sydpå, blev varmen næsten uuholdelig om natten som ugen skred frem. Værtsparret overvejer nu at installere aircondition.Ellers stor tilfredshed med huset og beliggenheden.

-belle maison de campagne de 500 ans située à environ 600 m d'altitude avec une vue fantastique et un cadre agréable pour les promenades. Nous avons été chaleureusement accueillis par un couple d'hôtes très sympathique. Convient aux enfants et aux jeunes qui s'intéressent aux animaux - chevaux et poules - et à la possibilité de divers jeux. La seule chose cependant était la chaleur la nuit. Il n'y a pas de climatisation, et avec la hausse des températures vers le sud, la chaleur devenait presque insupportable la nuit au fur et à mesure que la semaine avançait. Le couple d'hôtes envisage maintenant d'installer la climatisation, sinon grande satisfaction de la maison et de l'emplacement.

-beautiful 500 year old country house located about 600 m above sea level with a fantastic view and nice surroundings for walks. We received a warm reception from a very sympathetic host couple. Suitable for children and young people with an interest in animals - horses and chickens - and the opportunity for various games. The only thing though was the heat at night. There is no air conditioning, and with the rising temperatures to the south, the heat became almost unbearable at night as the week progressed. The host couple is now considering installing air conditioning. Otherwise great satisfaction with the house and the location.

My family and I had an amazing holiday at Cal De Mestran. We have three children and they loved looking after the animals too! The hosts are so kind and thoughful and made our stay extra special. The house is beautifully presented and very well maintained. I would definately recommend staying here, we loved it, thank you.

Havde en fantastisk uge i huset. De sødeste værter som sørgede for os både da vi kom (alt for sent) og under vores ophold. Huset er mørkt men dejligt køligt og det fandt vi hurtigt ud af fungerede rigtig godt i varmen! Ligger smukt med den skønneste udsigt og fin afstand til ture til både Barcelona, strand og bjerge. Var afsted med store børn og havde meget glæde af swimmingpoolen og ikke mindst rummet med både pool og bordfodbold... Og så var der frisklagte æg i hønsegården til morgenmaden, hvad mere kan man bede om :)

Had a fantastic week at the house. The sweetest hosts who provided for us both when we arrived (too late) and during our stay. The house is dark but nice cool and we soon found that worked really well in the heat! Beautifully situated with the most beautiful views and a good distance to trips to Barcelona, beach and mountains. Was away with big children and enjoyed the swimming pool and not least the room with both pool and table football ... And then there were fresh eggs in the chicken yard for breakfast, what more can you ask for :)
