Mas Lucia is the former home of a now retired architect and the different decades of architecture emerge in the house. It is of course a matter of taste, but we actually found it charming and a point where the house is different from other of our holiday homes, you can make up your own opinion from the photos or give it a try.
The house is situated only 35 km. from Barcelona, where the countryside begins. The plot is sloping, which means that the house has a beautiful view over the landscape from most parts of the house, it is constructed on the slope, with many different levels. The property is very private, but with neighbors on each side, mutual consideration will make your stay comfortable. This house is not ideal, if you like late night music.
The house is a bit worn, but the João, the new manager of the house have some projects to improve the quality of the house. A big quality of the house as it is, is the situation on the hill side, so all level of the house has a beautiful view over the landscape. The natural surroundings can be hard to find with the short distance to Barcelona, that the house offers.
At the lowest level, the swimming pool is privately situated, and there is also a shady outdoor terrace area and a barbecue. In the entrance of the direct access to the conservatory there is a toilet with a shower conveniently situated. The conservatory is the natural center for your holiday, as there is a big dining table and some chill-out sofas and an extra fridge. There is also a direct stairway to the kitchen.
One level up, there is the hall, which is also in level with the upper garden with the parking at end. There is here a cosy sofa corner with TV and the staircase make the space open and bright. Here, you can also access the small, but functional and well-equipped kitchen and in connection a smaller dining area ideal for breakfast. From the kitchen, you can access the upper terrace with iconic “brick-arches”, and a beautiful view over the landscape.
At the first floor (from the hall), you find the 3 double rooms and the suite. They are beautifully decorated with the classic Catalan tiles on the floors, and a nice detailed is that all is color-coordinated, so each room has different colors of tiles and matching wall painting. In one end, there is a small twin room and a bigger double room, then a bathroom with shower, and in the other end a normal double room and finally a suite. The suite is in “70es design with wooden floors. To one side, there is the bedroom area with very big double bed and walk-in closet. The other part is a big bathroom where the bathtub is in level with the window, so you can enjoy the view over the landscape while relaxing in the foam. And not at least, there is exit to a private sun terrace with a café table, so you can relax in the sun.
To add additional capacity, under the roof, there is a big room sleeping 4-6 persons. In the summer, it gets very hot though, but a solution might be on the way. Please inquire, in case you are interested in making use of this space.
The house is perfect to explore Barcelona and the surrounding areas. Closest, you have a village with supermarket, restaurant and some other services only 2,5 km. away and Caldes de Montbui, know for its hot springs, 5 km. away and if you prefer to take the train to Barcelona, the station Les Franqueses de Valles is 8 km. away.
By car you can go to Barcelona in about 35-40 minutes depending on traffic, and the closest beach a bit shorter. In the area, you also find the ”Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya” race course (e.g. formula 1) and 20 minutes away La Roca Outlet Village, if you like to shop a bit. Inland, Vic is a very nice town, 40 minutes away, go for instance Tuesday or Saturday mornings, where Catalonia’s biggest market takes place in the antique town center.
