Casa Joaquim is a grand country home situated below the gaze of the Canigó Mountain; hence there is a breathtaking view from the garden and from all of the many rooms. There are 8 spacious bedrooms which combine traditional and modern design. All of the bedrooms have a stunning view along with bathrooms ensuites, aircondition and a television.
The ground floor at casa Joaquim has 2 comfortable lounge areas, a dining area and a grand kitchen. There is one beautiful bedroom on the ground floor which is adapted to the needs of people with disabilities. At the entrance door is a hall with stairs that leads up to the second floor. Here you will find 7 of the nicely decorated bedrooms - all with private bathrooms.
The huge garden covers an area of 8000m2 and has many different outdoor facilities. One of these facilities is the large swimming pool where you can cool down on the many hot days. There are several sun chairs and tables and chairs, where time can be spent relaxing and soaking up some sun rays, whilst easily being able to keep an eye on the children playing around in the pool. The pool area also has two bathrooms, and a fridge located in the pool house. So you will easily be able to grab a cool drink, without having to walk far. There are also many other activitties that can be enjoyed throughout the day in the large garden's facilities such as the private tennis court, the play area for the children with swings in the shadow, table tennis, boules and even a small private football court that has two goals. The garden also has many shaded areas with seating and of course a great BBQ area - all a must when staying in the lovely, warm Catalonia.
The beautiful holiday home dates all the way back to the 17th century and offers the perfect setting, peacefulness and beauty. It is owned by the welcoming family Prat Planas, who bought the house in order to make a place where anyone who wants to do so, can enjoy a land which is always surprising and never disappointing.
This amazing holiday home is located just 3 km. from a cosy village which has a local bakery, restaurant and a grocery store, and is located just minutes away from Figueres with great shopping possibilities and with the unique museum Teatre Dalí. Casa Joaquim is the perfect choice for someone who is looking for a beautiful holiday house with lots of outdoor facilities.
Feedback from guests 2021
As we only make short visits to the houses, we value a lot the feedback we receive from our guests staying 1 or 2 weeks there. So to make it as accurate as possible about what to expect, we have made this update, based on the feedback, they were kind to provide. They have all enjoyed their stay and agree that the house is of very good standard. 8 nice double rooms with bathrooms and air conditioning.
Isabel and her family try to improve things continuously during the many years running the Casa Joaquim. The garden and exterior facilities are from the 60´s, like the tennis court, pool and garden furniture. Every year they repair it and they start to begin to invest to change and improve it (Covid-19 has given a setback due to forced lock-down with no income). It has a lot of charm, but some parts might be a bit worn.
In addition, we have failed to mention in the description that Casa Joaquim - as many houses in the countryside - have agriculture nearby. Casa Joaquim is situated on the same property as the owners’ farm, where they have cows. As it is a huge property, personally, we did not notice any inconvenience from the farm when being in the garden during our short visits. The feedback is that there might be some occasional smell, depending on the wind-direction and some noise when the cows are feeded in the afternoon. If you want, you can go with your children to have a look :-)

You can either visit Barcelona during your stay, or you can combine your trip, so that you stay in Barcelona some nights before or after your vacation in the Catalan countryside.
