Enjoy your holiday in a fantastically beautifully restored Catalan Masia in the most beautiful landscape, with both lake and sea views. Jump into the lake for a morning dip, or in the stunning new swimming pool with panoramic views of the beautiful countryside. But of course you can also just drive 20 minutes by car Costa Daurada's beautiful beaches, either the more touristy, or get Ina and Albert's tips for the more "hidden" places.
Masia Lago Mar with a capacity of 22 (+2) people has an exceptionally idyllic location and yet only a short drive to the beach life of Cambrils, Universal Studios Port Aventura, the historic city of Tarragona, the wine district of Priorat and much more.
The house is located in southern Catalonia and is the perfect base for those who like to relax in adventurous surroundings. You can relax with a glass of wine or cava in the Spa, which has direct views of the sea or in the delicious chillout courtyard, while the beach on the Costa Daurada, the Priorat wine district and the historic towns of Reus and Tarragona are only between 15 and 30 minutes driving away.
Masia Lago Mar is beautifully situated on the mountainside, just above the lake formed by the dam at Riudecanyes. The unique thing is that you can further see the Mediterranean Sea on the horizon, which you actually have double water views.
As the house is built up the slope, the lower floor is level with the parking area, and also has direct access to a small garden with a couple of cafe tables. On this lower floor you have in addition to the 3 suites (en suite bedrooms). Two of the rooms on the lower floor can be connected if you wish to form a family suite with 4 seats, and also a disabled-friendly room with adapted bathroom which also has a light sensor.
On the ground floor you will also find the large indoor common area with open kitchen and indoor dining area for 25 people, as well as a sofa area with Smart TV and Chromecast.
An internal staircase leads up to the first floor distribution room with sofa corner and direct access to the cozy patio with long dining table (seats 25) a kitchen corner with sink, barbecue and paella equipment. The perfect place to enjoy your meals. Or you can relax on the outdoor sofas, which are decorated in the shade under the mandarin trees. From the courtyard you have access to the small garden on the same level, where the outdoor Spa (3 x 3 meters) offers fantastic views while enjoying life. Or for the active there is the opportunity to play table tennis, petanque or table football.
As the latest addition (in 2021), a lovely swimming pool has been built on one level above the house, which naturally also has a fantastic view. Here there is also a small terrace area and 6 sun loungers for those who can not get enough of the sun.
Inside on the upper level, the center finds a common area with high ceilings, from which there is light. From there, a nice glass door provides views and easy access to the cozy atmosphere of the courtyard. From this floor there is also access to the 5 very spacious rooms, 3 of which are large family rooms, one with a double bed and a bunk bed.
All five bedrooms are very spacious, have their own bath and shower. The bathtubs are located so that you actually have a view directly to the lake, the Mediterranean or the mountains, a fine architectural detail.
In addition, the large ceiling height is utilized in the most beautiful way with two "loft rooms" under the roof but with full height, with two single beds in each. One furnished for slightly smaller children with a small table to draw and various toys. does not own bathrooms, and shares bathroom with the bedrooms downstairs.
The house is therefore perfect for families and friends who want to holiday together.
In the 1920s, the house was listed as an administrative residence for the flooded lake. However, the dam was moved 200 meters and the house decayed. The house has the character of a state building from the 20th century and has many fine details that are preserved. The location itself is sublime. Between mountains, right on the lake and overlooking the sea.
A few years ago, Ina and Albert started renovating the ancient house and with amazing results. The house now looks incredibly beautiful and with all modern amenities, without losing its authentic atmosphere. The house is a springboard for a small boutique hotel, hence the large spacious rooms and exclusive bathrooms. All rooms each have 2-3 French balconies with picturesque countryside views.
In the furnished patio with the small outdoor kitchen corner with barbecue and paella equipment, we hope you will enjoy many evenings. Next to the aromatic herb garden, there is an area with sun loungers around the spa of 3 x 3 meters, which is heated from Easter until the end of October, so you can lie down and enjoy the starry sky.
With the house belongs a plot of 4ha, where there are plenty of places to relax with nature benches and small paths. There is, among other things, a private road directly down to the lake. In the eucalyptus tree we have hung a sling for the more brave of the children, but there is also a sandbox for the little ones and a trampoline for everyone who wants.
For those who like to swim, you can cross the road and jump in the lake and swim in the fresh water that comes directly from a nearby nature park, or you can drive the 15 minutes to the beautiful beaches of the Costa Daurada. If you are looking for the "undiscovered" small beaches, Ina and Albert can advise. In addition, the village is 2 km. away a village swimming pool, a cozy place and baths for both older and smaller children and also used as a gathering point for local children and teens.
The owners Albert (who are Catalans) and Ina (who are Danish) live even in a village 5 km. away, and are very helpful with suggestions for hiking and cycling tours, both child-friendly and more demanding, and can help arrange food for social occasions, tapas workshop or wine tasting at the local wineries in Priorat and Montsant close by and more.
