In days past, Masia Arliqua – a traditional Catalan farmhouse initially constructed in 1797 – was rented out as a hotel, not one unit. This means that all the house’s 5 rooms are more akin to small, rustic suite rooms, and offer an excellent experience for those who stay in them, no matter which room is chosen.
The 5 rooms all come with ensuite bathrooms. All rooms have high-speed WiFi, viscoelastic mattresses and pillows. Moreover, the individual makeup of the rooms goes as follows:
- Rojals: A room with 1 double bed and an ensuite bathroom, coming with great views out over the garden and a reading corner with a sofa chair, and the option for an extra bed (35 EUR). The bed’s dimensions are 180x190cm.
- Mont-Ral: A room with 1 double bed and an ensuite bathroom, coming with a classical, small Catalan wooden table, and views of the garden and the mountains. The bed’s dimensions are 150x190cm.
- Farena: A room with 1 double bed, two small nightstands with lamps, and an ensuite bathroom, coming with views over the garden and the mountains, the option for an extra bed (35 EUR), and allows for pets. The bed’s dimensions are 150x190cm.
- Baridana: A room with 1 double bed and an ensuite bathroom, coming with views over the garden. The bed’s dimensions are 150x190cm.
- Pintell: A room with 2 single beds, and an ensuite bathroom, coming with a reading area and views of the garden. The dimensions of a single bed is 90x190cm.
On the ground floor you will also find a longue/living room-area, coming with a traditional fireplace. Sit in the comfortable sofa, close by the fire, and relax to the gentle snapping and popping sounds of the fire, as evening gives way to night. The cozy and classic stone walls only add to the sensation of living in a tailor-made slice of Catalan serenity, and the it is an ideal place to relax alone or with friends/family; relax, dine, or enjoy lively conversations long into the hours of the night. You will also find the kitchen on the ground floor.
Moreover, the house also has a roofed, fully covered terrace area, with large glass windows. This area also has a small stove, sofa chairs and tables to relax at, read books, or play cards. No matter the season or weather, lounging in this area is bound to give you a sense of peace and tranquillity, as you can look out at the great garden – and the marvellous sights of the landscape beyond it.
The outdoors is fantastic as well. Not only do you have a 15 hectare-garden to relax, play or dine in, but that’s not all. The garden has a great pool, coming with loungers, and a great view of the garden and landscapes beyond. Additionally, the garden has an excellent outdoor dining area, with plenty of space for larger groups to sit together and dine at the large table. Finally, the garden also has smaller chairs and sofa tables to recline in and enjoy a cold drink while the weather’s just right.
In addition to all the above, though, the surrounding areas have more to offer; the breathtaking, gorgeous views of the Padres Mountains. And indeed, you will find mountain ledges, overlooking scenic vistas to which few other sights compare. Sit and recline with a bottle of Catalan wine in hand and take in the beauty unfolding in front of you – alone or with others. No matter how you choose to take in the view, they are certain to leave a wondrous impression on you.
The region of Conca de Barbará offers a wide range of things to see and do: you can visit the atmospheric town of Montblanc with its mediaeval walls, Espluga de Francolí and its prehistoric caves, and Poblet and its magnificent monastery, to name a few. Or swim in the natural pools in the rivers near the country house. These are just a few of the many activities that you can do here – and we are happy to advise you. There is also the possibility of doing a free wine tasting in one of the Montblanc wineries (reservation booked with the owner)!
What’s more, the Prades Mountains’ proximity to the Costa Daurada means that you can leave the calm of country life for a while and head for the nearby beaches, to Port Aventura theme park or the bustle of the cities of Reus and Tarragona.
