Are you looking for a completely secluded place but still not too far from a nice town with restaurants, Masia Sol de Marlant might be the place. Staying on a mountain of course requires arriving by a mountain road, but the road is fine and only the last part without pavement, so you can arrive without problems. The reward is stunning! What a natural place surrounded by nature and with views to the valley below. The energy source is sun cells, adding to the natural and sustainable feeling.
The property is ideal for a big group, as it actually consists of 4 apartments (Paller I & II and Soler I & II) , which we let out as one big property. The dining room in the biggest apartment and all exterior areas are prepared so you can all be- and eat together, but the four apartments also give you the possibility to retire sometimes, as there are smaller terraces, sofa areas and even kitchens in each apartment.
The building next to the swimming pool consist of the two apartments Soler I and Soler II,, which are also interiorly connected. On the lowest floor, you will find the big activity area, which is great. There is corner with toys for smaller children, billiard, table tennis, table football, and even an original card game table as taken out of a mafia movie from New York. Here, you also find two extra toilets.
The Soler I apartment is one level over the swimming pool, and you can easily get out there by the main entrance. Here you find the large dining room, where you can all eat together and in connection, the well-equipped kitchen. Three steps up from the kitchen, there are two exterior bathrooms, also convenient when you are in the common room or by the swimming pool, and then two triple rooms, one with 3 single beds and one with 1 double bed and 1 single bed.
The Soler II apartment is connected with the Soler I as well as with the game room, and it also has an exit directly to the garden. Here you find two big bedrooms, each with 2 double beds, and then a double room with double bed. These three bedrooms share 2 bathrooms. Also, there is a nice rustic common room with dining area, kitchen and sitting area.
In a separate building on the edge of the valley, the two apartments Paller are situated. As the building is on the edge, it is basically the middle floor, which is in ground level.
From the ground level, you enter the Paller I apartment, which has a great common room with very high ceiling. Here, there is a sofa corner with TV, and open kitchen and a dining area with dining table. On the upper floor, you find 3 double rooms sharing 1 bathroom.
Then one level below, you find the Paller II apartment, also with a common room with open kitchen, sofa and dining table. In addition, there are two double rooms sharing one bathroom.
The most amazing with this property is all the space and the natural surroundings. Trees, flowers, bushes, the sound of the birds, the sun and the view create an adventurous atmosphere, with the daily life as far away as it gets.
Hence, it is also curious how quickly you can be in the middle of the lively town of Banyoles, when you start to know the road. Banyoles has its antique town center with restaurants and cafés, and the cosy small channels leading the water though the center down towards the Costa Brava beaches. The lakeside has also a lot to offer, and there is also a nice walk around the lake, about 5 km. I think.
A bit further away, you can easily visit the beaches of Costa Brava, the Dali museum in Figueres, and not at least Girona, which is a great city. Take a wake on the city wall, or enjoy a meal in Placa de Independéncia. In the other direction Besalú is one of the most well-preserved medieval towns of Catalonia.
And then of course Barcelona is fantastic, and it is no problem to go there on a day trip, as the drive is less than two hours.
