Can Maset is an authentic Catalan country house that has been carefully renovated and transformed into a comfortable holiday home while preserving its history and character. Rustic stone walls, wooden beams and traditional details are combined with modern comforts, creating a relaxing and atmospheric setting for families and groups of friends.
The house enjoys a peaceful location in the beautiful countryside between Banyoles, Girona and the Costa Brava. Its central position makes it easy to enjoy quiet days at the house while also exploring some of Catalonia’s most interesting towns, natural areas and beaches.
Can Maset has capacity for 15+4 guests and is particularly suitable for several families or a large group of friends who wish to enjoy meals, poolside relaxation and holiday experiences together, while also appreciating several living areas and terraces where it is possible to withdraw and enjoy a quiet moment.
The pool area is one of the natural gathering places at the house. It is situated on a higher level than the rest of the garden and features a large, shaded terrace with plenty of space for relaxing, shared meals and long summer days by the water.
A major advantage for families with young children is that the pool area is enclosed by a gate, preventing smaller children from entering without an adult. This provides additional peace of mind and makes the holiday more relaxing for the whole family.
Several other pleasant terraces and outdoor seating areas can be found around the house, allowing meals and quiet moments to be enjoyed in either the sun or the shade.
As the ground floor is not part of the holiday accommodation, the living areas are situated on the first and second floors. The layout provides a good separation between the communal spaces and the sleeping areas, creating a natural balance between spending time together and enjoying privacy.
On the first floor, there is a dining room connected directly to the well-equipped kitchen. From the kitchen, doors lead out onto a lovely terrace, which is an ideal place to start the day with a morning coffee or enjoy meals accompanied by birdsong and views across the surrounding countryside.
At the opposite end of the floor, you will find a larger dining area connected to the comfortable living room with sofas. This is a natural place for the group to gather in the evenings or during the cooler spring and autumn months.
The first floor has four bedrooms. Two of the bedrooms have been newly renovated and each has its own private bathroom, while the other two bedrooms share a third bathroom.
The second floor contains three further bedrooms, which share a bathroom. This floor also has an activity room with a billiard table and TV. It is an ideal space for children and teenagers to enjoy a game of billiards or watch a film while the rest of the group spends the evening elsewhere in the house or out on the terrace.
The activity room also has a sofa bed and can therefore be used as an eighth bedroom when required.
As an important improvement, the house was upgraded with air conditioning in 2025. The five warmest bedrooms and several of the communal areas are now equipped with automatic climate control, ensuring a pleasant indoor temperature even during the hottest summer months. This is particularly beneficial in July and August.
Can Maset enjoys a very central location for exploring some of Catalonia’s most appealing sights and attractions.
The attractive town of Banyoles and its famous lake are only a 10-12-minute drive from the house. Here, you can walk or cycle around the lake, enjoy the views from the shore or visit the cafés and restaurants in and around the town.
The impressive medieval town of Besalú is around 20 minutes away. Its iconic stone bridge, cobbled streets and beautifully preserved old town make it an excellent destination for an excursion.
The regional capital Girona is only around 30 minutes away by car. Considered one of Catalonia’s most beautiful cities, it offers an atmospheric old town, a historic Jewish quarter, an impressive cathedral, colourful houses along the River Onyar and a wide selection of restaurants, shops and attractive squares.
For a day by the sea, the broad sandy beaches of L’Escala can be reached in around 35 minutes. Continuing a little farther along the Costa Brava, you will find some of the coast’s most beautiful small coves, known locally as calas, where cliffs, pine trees and clear bathing water create a more intimate atmosphere.
Along much of the coastline, you can also follow the historic Camí de Ronda coastal paths, which offer beautiful views of the Mediterranean and connect beaches, coves and small coastal towns.
The area around Can Maset is hilly and particularly well suited to cycling holidays. The quiet roads and varied landscape make the area attractive both to experienced cyclists and to those who simply wish to enjoy a leisurely ride through the countryside.
There are also excellent opportunities for hiking. One of the most popular excursions is the approximately five-kilometre walk around Lake Banyoles, which can easily be completed at a relaxed pace.
Nature lovers should also visit La Garrotxa near Olot. The area is known for its volcanic landscape, lush forests and extensive network of hiking and cycling routes.
Barcelona can be visited on a day trip for those who wish to experience city life, architecture, shopping and culture.
Driving north, you can also take a day trip to France. The French border is just over an hour away by car, making it possible to combine your holiday in Catalonia with an excursion across the border.
